Cheese Broccoli Casserole
Cooking a turkey…?
Anyone have any great recipes or ideas, I have a 14lb turkey I will be cooking for Christmas dinner, along with a ham, homemade mac&cheese, broccoli casserole, and a jello poke cake. I have only cooked a turkey once before, and it was good, just curious about any new recipes or tricks to keep it super good and juicy!!
Merry Christmas!!!!
To me, everyone always cooks their turkeys too fast. Cooking with my mom for years, we would make sure first the turkey is thawed completely. Remove neck and giblets. (cook them in stick of butter with water slowly for an hour and use them cut up in your stuffing.) Okay, I know this is weird, but we have always put it in the night before. Have oven heating to 350′ while preparing turkey. Line roasting pan with enough foil so it will reach over turkey to seal well. Put seaoning in empty cavities. I use garlic and onion ‘powder’ for inside the turkey and a little poultry seasoning on outside after I grease the turkey down with oil. Place in roasting pan and tightly seal edges of foil to cover. Lay lid on top of turkey, even though it won’t probably fit down. Place in oven and let cook like half an hour, then turn over down to 250′ when you go to bed. This works best if you eat at around noon. Turn oven to warm in the mornng. Can even take it out and place over back burner while using the oven for other stuff. The stuffing I make night before, too, and it can be placed in the bird, but I fix it, put in refrigerator until morning, then put in oven to heat through. My turkeys have always been moist and fall off the bone. Good luck! Any questions, e-mail me And yes, it can be cooked same day, but get up early and cook low and long for best results.
Merry Christmas to you, too!!!!
