My grandmother makes an AWESOME creamed corn casserole, but shes out of town and i cant reach her. heres the ingredients i can remember.

1 can sweet kernel corn
1 can creamed corn
(about) 1 cup sugar
(??? amount) flour
(1 or 2) tsp vanilla
(MAYBE) butter? i honestly cant remember on that one.

anyone either A. have a recipie very similar to this they can share or B. can fix my amounts on this one to make it work?

P.S. alot of the recipies i looked up online called for BREAD CRUMBS and i KNOW my gmas didnt call for that, you put enough flour in that you didnt need bread crumbs and it was perfect.

Cream+Corn+Casserole
Should I make it anyways?

We are having Thanksgiving with my fiancee’s family this year and Christmas with mine. They cook so differently I wish I could have some of my families food. I miss it. I haven’t had it since last Thanksgiving because we couldn’t make it to Christmas because I was 9 months pregnant and couldn’t travel that far. They have said they have everything covered but covered to them and covered to me are two different things. To them covered is turkey, potatoes out of a box, stuffing from a box, a can of corn and rolls. To me covered is turkey, real mashed potatoes, creamed corn casserole, real stuffing, green bean casserole, fruit salad, rolls, pumpkin pie, cherry pie, and ice cream. I can live without some of it as we are going to be able to go to Christmas at my families this year and all of that will be there plus more. But I do want the corn casserole, potatoes, and pie. Should I make it and bring it anyways. I love the holiday’s but I’m dreading the food.

You can always say to them ” I would love to please be able to contribute to the meal and I would really like to prepare…..” and tell them the list of items you would love to make and bring. You may hear, “It’s ok, we got it covered”, and you respond with “No, I insist!”

That solves the problem and gives you the dishes you want to make and enjoy with them. I did this with my now mother-in-law 18 years ago with my pumpkin pie, rolls and candied yams, I have brought them every year since!
